abstract = "This paper provides spatial and georeferenced information related
to the erosion in Doce river basin, Esp{\'{\i}}rito Santo state,
for different rain events, using Landsat 5-TM images. The used
data were: images of Landsat 5-TM, soil map, rain events, digital
elevation model and drainage net. The used methodology was to
adapt the modified universal soil loss equation (MUSLE) with the
objective of simulating the soil loss for each rain event in the
Doce river watershed. For each rain event a map was generated with
the spatial information of the erosion in the basin. More
expressive erosions were verified in sites with suppression of
vegetation and high steepness. The developed simulation model can
be updated with the generation of new land use map in the database
by acquisition of updated satellite images. The simulation model
can be used to select priority sites for the recovery of areas
with larger erosion probability and to know, quantitatively, the
soil loss for each rain event.",
